Green Sustainability for LayFlats

This year LayFlats is proud to have pre-calculated our CO2 carbon emissions footprint and are offsetting these emissions through the purchase of Renewable Energy Credits (REC’s). For more information please visit www.carbonfund.org.

Offsetting our carbon footprint will support greenhouse gas reduction projects and hasten the transition to a clean energy future.
Carbon offsets can be more efficient than other measures an individual can take to fight global warming, while reducing the same or more carbon dioxide emissions. After all, it is more cost effective to build a 760 MW wind farm in Benton County, Indiana than a 5 kW windmill in your own back yard. (But, don’t let that stop you from installing that windmill this year!!!)
- Renewable Energy – supports clean energy development, such as wind, solar, geothermal, and biomass.
- Energy Efficiency – reduces existing energy use, much of which comes from coal, oil, and natural gas.
- Reforestation – absorbs existing CO2 emissions, which helps to reduce the excess greenhouse gases that humans have added to the atmosphere.
How can you be more sustainable at this year’s festival?
1) Carpool!! It’s cheaper and more fun!!!
2) Take public transit. It’s not only cheaper and more convenient than sitting in traffic and dealing with a parking lot, it’s more sustainable. Cars generate a lot of greenhouse gas emissions and use a lot of fuel, which is greatly reduced by using public transportation and buses.
3) Be sure to recycle anything you can from the festival – bottles from vendors, paper information, etc. Please make sure you utilize all of our recycling bins located throughout the festival grounds!!
The LayFlats Festival attendees are encouraged to GO GREEN! By making an effort today, we make a truly greater impact tomorrow!
